Dell to start shipping Ophelia thumb PC next July
Dell Inc. has announced it will start shipping its thumb-sized PC, which is the size of a USB stick, in July, PC World has reported. The Android-based device, called Project Ophelia, can turn any screen or display into a PC, gaming machine or a TV set-top box, said Jeff McNaught, executive director of cloud client computing at Dell. Ophelia will plug into a display’s HDMI port so that it can run applications or access files stored remotely. It will have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities and is aimed at users who do most of their computing on the web.
Maersk ‘certain’ to double shipping rates from July
A P Moller-Maersk, owner of the world’s biggest container shipping firm, has said that despite market weakness that has seen prices fall by a third since March, it is “100% certain” it can more than double freight rates in July, Gulf Times has reported. The chief executive of the Danish group, Nils Smedegaard Andersen said he had “no doubt” Maersk Line would be successful in its plans to hike rates to $ 1481 per twenty foot container from July 1, from the current $ 731. The company, whose Maersk Line vessels make up around 15% of world container shipping capacity, said its container shipping unit swung back to a $ 204m profit in the quarter from a $ 599m loss a year earlier.
Diamond Developers to start construction of Dhs1bn green development in July
Diamond Developers has announced the construction of the Dubai Sustainable City project is scheduled to commence in July, and the first cluster of 100 villas and townhouses is to be delivered by the end of 2014, Khaleej Times has reported. ?The Dhs1bn green-development project, which has 500 villas and townhouses ranging from 3,100 sq ft to 4,200 sq ft, will be completed by mid-2015,? said the chief executive of Diamond Developers, Faris Saeed.
